Privacy Policy

Overview

ClawChat AI ("ClawChat", "we", "our") is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your conversations and personal data stay on your device. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal information.

Data That Stays on Your Device

All chat messages and conversation history
Bob's memory of your preferences and interests
Search results and web content
Voice transcriptions

This data is stored locally on your iPhone using SQLite and JSON files. If you enable iCloud sync (PRO), your data syncs privately through your personal iCloud account - we never see it.

Data Shared with Third Parties

When you send a message, the following data is transmitted to our server and then forwarded to Anthropic (Claude AI) to generate a response:

Your chat message text
Up to 10 recent messages from your conversation (for context)
Your device's anonymous identifier (for rate limiting only)

We do not log or store the content of your messages on our server. Messages are processed in real time and discarded immediately after a response is generated. Anthropic processes your messages in accordance with their privacy policy and usage policy.

Your consent is required before any data is shared. The app presents a data consent screen on first launch that explains what data is sent, who receives it, and requires your explicit agreement before any messages are transmitted.

Data We Collect

Anonymous Device ID - A random identifier stored in your device's Keychain, used only for rate limiting (tracking daily message count). We log only the first 8 characters.
Message Count - The number of messages sent per day, for enforcing free/PRO tier limits.
Timezone - Your timezone identifier, used to reset your daily message count at your local midnight.

That's it. No names, no emails, no phone numbers, no IP address logging, no analytics, no advertising identifiers.

Third-Party Services

Anthropic (Claude) - Your messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Anthropic's usage policy applies. See anthropic.com/privacy.
Brave Search - If Bob performs a web search on your behalf, the search query is sent to Brave Search. See brave.com/privacy.
Microsoft Edge TTS - Text-to-speech is generated using Microsoft's Edge TTS service. No conversation content is shared beyond the specific response being spoken.
Apple - If you subscribe to PRO, Apple processes your payment. We do not receive or store your payment information.

Open Source

Our server code is open source. You can inspect exactly what data we handle and verify our privacy claims at github.com/wearebob1000-dev/clawchat-api.

Data Deletion

Since your data lives on your device, you have full control. Use the "Delete All My Data" button in the app's Settings to permanently remove all conversations, memories, and local settings — including iCloud copies. You can also delete the app to remove local data.

Children's Privacy

ClawChat is not directed at children under 13. ClawChat does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
